What to Know about Somerville New Jersey

Somerville is a small little borough located almost directly in the center of Somerset County, which makes it located almost directly in the center of New Jersey as well. It was incorporated all the way back in the mid 1800’s when it broke away from Bridgewater Township. Somerville is bordered by Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Raritan Township. According to the 2010 Census, it has a population of just over 12,000, which is actually down about 2.5% from the 2000 Census. Although, Route 202, Route 22 and Interstate 287 surround Somerville none of the major roadways actually run through the borough. So they enjoy the convenience of having easy access to some of New Jersey’s most frequented roadways but not the direct noise and disturbance they tend to cause.
